Ever since Brady Singer walked off the field for the final time last season. Royals fans everywhere have been day dreaming about the next time they will get to see the greatest Royals pitcher since Zach Grienke pitch again.
Thankfully the wait is over as Brady Singer made his first start of 2023 spring training yesterday. Lets talk about it.
Also while we’re at it let’s go over the latest acquisition that J.J. Picollo has made in hopes to improve the club.
But First We Got A Sneak Peak The Of The Powder Blue’s
These are uniforms are soooo clean.
I am so excited for opening day to see these uniforms on the field. The only thing I am worried about is the Royals have gave a indication that these are just a opening day thing and they will not be wearing them the rest of the season. Which can I just say would be the most disappointing thing ever…
…And yet at the same time it would be the most Royals thing ever.
Only the Royals would get the fans hyped up with a new retro uniform set. And still miss the mark so much by limiting this to a one game thing.
I see no reason why we can’t be like the Phillies or the Braves who use their fire looking retro uniforms throughout the season.

Singer Sings
Brady Singer’s start against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday was a bit of a mixed bag. He recorded a soft out for out #1 and then he struck out Kris Bryant before channeling 2021 Brady Singer and he proceeded to walk C.J. Cron after just a batter previously hitting a missile for a single. To set up second and third with two outs allowing no margin for error as the next batter Harold Castro stepped up and booted one to the right side allowing the runner to score from second. Luckily Singer got the next batter to strikeout making the walk look all the more infuriating because if it wasn’t for the walk too Cron. Their would not have been a runner on second for Castro too drive in.
But anyway after all these extra pitches in the first it ran up his pitch count1 so he couldn’t finish his scheduled two innings. As he had already hit his limit of 30 pitches after a ground out,a batter reaching on a error2,and another strikeout to begin the bottom of the second inning.
Brady Singer’s Final Statline For His Start On March 1st 2023
1.2 IP 2 H 2 R 1 ER 1 BB 3 SO 0 HR 5.40 ERA
In conclusion it is still too much of a small sample size to pull anything substantial from this game that will tell us Brady Singer will have a down 2023.
I will say the walk concerned me but, the strikeouts were nice and it seems like he his working on finding a fourth pitch to complement his arsenal. And those type of things take time to get right and whenever you tweak something differently or bring in something new their are bound to be some hiccups.
Footnotes:
I can only assume he had a pitch count for these reason’s. A: It was his first start this year. B: He needs to save his arm for the WBC. C: Everyone knows he will be in the rotation so instead they just want to see him in a limited action and lower the threat of potential injury.
That same batter eventually scored. Which caused Brady to get charged with another run allowed. But thankfully for him it wasn’t a earned run.
J.J. Wasn’t Joking About Finding Outfield Depth
J.J. Picollo doesn’t play around in spring training.
The man is always wheeling and dealing pieces.
Ok Ok in all seriousness this move is fine. While getting up in age Jackie Bradley Jr. still can provide nice backup defensive minutes for a rebuilding team plus considering the injuries to Drew Waters and Diego Hernandez I completely agree with this move just so we can a little more outfield depth. With that being said I don’t think he makes the team out of camp unless he reverts back to 2016 JBJ. His bat is completely gone plus he’s older now so the wheels don’t run as well. He’ll probably go too Omaha just because he understands he does’t have much other options for this season than to play in the minor leagues for a rebuilding club and hope a injury or trade happens on the MLB squad in which case he would get the call to be a fourth outfielder type player for a rebuilding team. Which is exactly why he would sign with the Kansas City Royals.
