It is just spring training after all. There is still A LOT of baseball still to be played but for now lets sit back and relax and enjoy the fact that the Royals are finally playing baseball again and enjoy the fact that warm weather is making its return across the Midwest. So sit back and relax and enjoy the first edition of Winners and Losers of game 1 of spring training.
*Note: Just looked out my window uhh we might not be in warm weather yet in the midwest
Winner-Jake Eisenberg
There is a lot of new in Royals Land this season.
A new manager
A new pitching coach (thankfully)
Officially a new general manager
Plans for a new stadium
Etc.
One other new thing is this off season the Royals called up play-play broadcaster Jake Eisenberg from Omaha to replace the retiring Steve Physioc.
Jake Eisenberg made his spring training debut today and man was it a refreshing and youthful change to listen too as opposed to the aging and at times “robotic'“ voice of Steve Physioc.
There was one point during the radio cast in fact that featured veteran commentator Ryan Lefebvre.
Where Ryan Lefebvre was writing down the names and numbers for all the substitutions that were coming in for the “big name” guys too make it easier for Jake Eisenberg to just read off. So Jake Eisenberg started reading off the substitutions and than after one or two he said “I can’t read your writing” with a smile. And the veteran Ryan Lefebrve fired back jokingly “You know your pretty critiqueful for a new guy”. And the two laughed and it was a fun moment.
But it was just cool to hear some jokes between the two and you could see the chemistry start too build.
Even if it was just spring training.
Winner- The Pasquatch
Enough Said.
Vinnie Pasquantino did’’t stop their he hit a rocket single his next at bat. Prompting jokes from the radio team that he was going for the cycle in a spring training game. He also walked before being replaced by Logan Porter after three at bats.
Loser- People Who Don’t Like Baseball
Winner- The New Rules
Even tho we could only listen to it on radio it was obvious that with the implantation of the pitch clock the game moved a lot faster.
Loser- Tucker Bradley
The dude hit a walk off home run and didn’t even get credit for it at first by the guys on the headset or by Royals beat writer Anne Rodgers.
Winner- Matt Duffy
The man almost got away with hitting a walk off home run without actually hitting a walk off home run.
Impressive Stuff
That homer on his stat sheet could’ve helped him make the team.
Winner- Royals Pitchers Throwing Strikes?
The Kansas City Royals used 8 different pitchers today and only gave up two walks in 9 innings.
It’s safe to say they were #raidingthezone
